About
Hello and Welcome! Here’s a little about me; I’m a Bulawayo-bred Zimbabwean who lives in Harare.
I grew up on a steady diet of stories.
I attribute my love of reading to my father who told me folktales when I was little. It also helped that
I, along with the rest of my class, was read to by my grade two teacher at school. From the moment
she introduced us to Enid Blyton I was hooked. So much so that I named different parts of our
garden after cities and countries because of THE MAGIC FARAWAY TREE. To this day, my parents
swear Finland is in their back garden.
In July 2017, I graduated with an MFA in Writing for Children and Young Adults from the Vermont
College of Fine Arts (VCFA). A few years before that my story, Seven, was shortlisted for a Golden
Baobab Award (2013).
Besides writing I’m what some people might describe as a creative dabbler i.e. I like to try my hand
at arty and creative things (with or without success – but hopefully with fun). I’ve been involved in
animation and radio production as well as film.
I’m married and happen to be a mom to three children who keep me very busy. I keep sane by
having my nose in books someone else has written. Occasionally I need to get away from all the
ideas in my head and escape into nature.
